Regina Mozelewski (Lasky), age 96, died at the Stanley R. Tippet Hospice Home in Needham, MA on August 23, 2019. Regina was born in Amsterdam, NY on July 23, 1923, the daughter of Nikodem Kisselus and Anna Luzonas. She spent the next seventy years in Amsterdam. After graduating from Wilber H Lynch HS in 1941, Regina went to work in office at General Electric Corporation in Schenectady.
Soon after WWII ended, she met the love of her life and future husband, Henry Mozelewski (Lasky.) They were married on September 1, 1946 at St Casimirs Church in Amsterdam. Regina and Henry settled in their home on Vrooman Ave where they raised their three children, Mary, Margaret, and Peter.
Throughout her life, Regina’s priorities were her family and her Catholic faith. Regina was active, devout parishioner at St Casimir’s Catholic Church. As she was always involved in her children’s activities and interests, she chose to work closer to her home, first at Amsterdam Savings Bank as a bookkeeper and later, working part time at several of the local retail stores in town. She especially enjoyed her retail experiences because of her avid interest in fashion and keeping up with current style trends.
Regina was very proud of the fact that she walked everywhere, often citing it as one of the reasons she lived such a long and healthy life.
After her husband’s death, in 1994, Regina moved to Massachusetts, settling in Dedham, MA in order to be closer to her children and four grandchildren. She was very active in her children’s families by being an integral part of holidays, weddings, graduations, vacations, grandparent days, and more importantly, the day to day activities of a modern family. She also continued her vigorous walking and her affable personality was appreciated by all the people she met along the way. She loved going to the best restaurants in Boston and Philadelphia with her children as well as spending time in Maine, New Hampshire and Cape Cod.
Survivors include her children, daughters Mary Goldstein and her husband Sid of New York, NY, Margaret Tibbetts and her late husband William of Dedham MA, and son Peter Lasky and his wife Nancy of Andover MA. Her four grandchildren, Andrew (Laura), Caroline, Anna (Robert), and Alexander, and her two great-grandchildren, Blake and Sophia, all of who will miss her very much.
A private ceremony will be held in the fall at the chapel at St. Casimir’s Cemetery, Amsterdam, NY.
