Goldie McField
7/28/2019

Goldie (Tiny) Marie Johnson McField, 83, of Mattapan, MA returned to her creator on Sunday July 28, 2019 with her family and longtime caregiver by her side.
Marie, as most people called her was born in La Ceiba, Atlantida, Honduras to the late Joseph Johnson (Honduras) and Beatrice Wade (Belize) on June 6, 1936.
Marie was married to Roy McField Trusty for 61 years. She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter Bernadine Annett McField Williams, parents Leroy Johnson and Beatrice Wade, brothers Dennett and Leroy Johnson, Frank Tucker, Rupert Parks and sisters Laurel, Lula and Maxine Johnson. Marie left behind 5 children to carry out her legacy: Jose and Sandra McField from Boston; Goldie and Leonard Beach from West Melbourne, Florida; Bernice Maurina and Santiago Avila; Margo Azarie McField and Roy McField Jr. from Boston; as well as her sister Rebecca Baines, Maryland. Her grandchildren: Ruth Marie and Beverly Williams, Melanie, Jennifer, Cindy, Steven, Melissa, Kimberly and Samantha McField, Mikey Rodriguez, Jason Bonilla and Bayron, Frank, and Albert McField. 9 great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, many daughters and sons who called her mom, her longtime and loving caregiver Marie Joseph, a host of family, church family, friends and loved ones.
Marie grew up in Puerto Cortes, Honduras with her aunt Cloetha and her husband, Pastor George Adolphus, where she eventually taught elementary school. Marie was an avid reader and enjoyed writing letters of encouragement to missionaries and friends around the globe. She was well known as a mentor and mother figure to many. She enjoyed hosting events and sharing her blessings with her family, friends and anyone who visited the McFields’ home including the mail man, trash collectors and anyone in need of a cold drink of water and fresh baked bread with butter and homemade jelly. Sundays were a time of celebration; After church services, entire families would visit; meals at the McField household were like the 5 loaves and 2 fishes, there were always left overs (Matthew 15:32-39).
Marie lived as the virtuous woman described in Proverbs 31. She loved God, her husband, family and others. She had a special sense of humor, when asked “how are you today? Jokingly she would answer.. “it could have been worse, I could have caught a cold and died” She was always willing to share her faith and love for God with her family, friends and anyone she encountered. Missions and serving others had a special place in her heart, she always fully supported any initiative that would benefit the less fortunate. At the Methodist Wesleyan church in Honduras she served as a Sunday school teacher to many generations, she was president of the Wesleyan Woman group. She donated a plot of land in El Pino for the construction of a youth camp and medical community clinic. She was instrumental in church planting in neighboring communities and towns.
After migrating to Boston, she worked as a nursing assistant at the Stone Institute in Newton until retirement. There she was loved and respected by the residents, their families, co-workers and managers.
She will be missed, but her memories will live on in the hearts lives of her family and the many people whose lives she touched.
