William F. Dryden, 59

Dateline: Pawtucket, Rhode Island

William F. Dryden, age 59, of Pawtucket, formerly of Mansfield and Sharon passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 28, 2019.

Born in Boston, MA on May 29, 1959, he was the loving and adoring son of Norma E. (Ciavattone) Lanoue of Mansfield and the late Richard Lanoue and John W. Dryden.

Bill grew up in Sharon, was a 1977 graduate of Sharon High School and attended Syracuse University. He was a standout football player in both high school and college and had the distinction of playing the opening game in the new Carrier Dome in New York.

Bill was a self-employed painter and the proud owner of the WFD Painting Company. He was also a general contractor and a member of the Carpenters Union Local 33 in Boston.

Bill had made his home in Pawtucket for the past three years and formerly resided in Mansfield for over thirty years. When younger and living in Sharon, he along with his family was a communicant of Our Lady of Sorrows Church.

Bill loved spending time with his family and the way in which he treated and cared for his mother was second to none. When not working, he enjoyed the simple pleasures of relaxing at home and watching TV. His hobbies included spending time at the beach and camping and he could always be counted on to help others in any capacity needed.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his devoted children: Timothy William Dryden and his wife Melissa of Georgia, Vanessa Lynne Dryden of Florida, John Joseph Repetto Amato of Mansfield and William Wesley Dryden of Mansfield. He was the dear brother and best friend of John M. Dryden of Mansfield and was pre-deceased by his brother James L. Dryden. He was the cherished grandfather of Joshua Dryden, Reya Dryden and Tyler Dryden all of Georgia. He was the loving companion of Laurie Brander of Pawtucket and is also survived by three nephews and many cousins.

His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Saturday, May 4th at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield. Burial will be private.

Visiting hours are omitted and in lieu of flowers, donations in Bill’s memory may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
