Denis Peter Rainville, 76, died Tuesday, April 16, 2019. He was the devoted husband of Shirley A. (Tieri) Rainville. They had been married for 52 years.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Arthur and Dorothy (Lachapelle) Rainville. He had worked for many years as a crossing guard for the Smithfield Police Department and Saint Philip School. Denis had also served in the United States Air Force. He had also served as both president and treasurer of the Lion’s Club, and enjoyed fishing, photography and NASCAR.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Denis P. Rainville, Jr, and his wife, Gale of Chepachet, his grandchildren, Kristi and Joseph, his sisters, Nancy Fox and Debra Mann and her husband Jack of Coventry and his many nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, April 23rd at 11am in St. Philip Church, Greenville. Burial will follow in Acotes Hill Cemetery, Chepachet. Visitation will be held Friday, April 19th from 4-7 pm in the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Home, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VA Medical Center, ATTN: Voluntary Service, 830 Chalkstone Ave, Providence, RI 02908 with Denis' name indicated on the memo line.
