Michael R. Murphy, age 60, of Tewksbury formerly of Medford passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019 following injuries sustained after being struck by a Commuter Rail Train in Wilmington. Michael was the beloved husband of Robin A. (Ciarlone) Murphy and together they shared 26 years of marriage. Born in Brighton, Michael was one of six children of the late Henry F. and Barbara R. (MacQuarre) Murphy.

Michael was raised and educated in Medford and was a resident of Tewksbury for the past twenty years. He worked for many years as a talented plasterer and was a member of the Laborers Union Local 22 of Boston. In his leisure time he enjoyed the outdoors, canoeing, fishing and camping with friends and family. He was an avid Boston sports fan and also enjoyed time with his dog Rudy. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife Robin, Michael is survived by their devoted children, Derek M. Murphy and Alice E. Murphy, both of Tewksbury. He was the cherished brother of Barbara Murphy of Cherry Hill, NJ, Henry Murphy and his wife Janet of Melrose, Patricia Murphy of Arlington, Joanne Shea and her husband Brian of Malden, John Murphy and his wife Erin of Pittsfield. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to gather for calling hours at the Dello Russo Family Home, 374 Main St., WILMINGTON, Thursday, April 11th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Services will conclude with a prayer service starting at 12 p.m. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Michael's memory to the Friends of the Middlesex Fells Reservation, 235 West Foster St., Melrose, MA 02176 or www.friendsofthefells.org.
