Coszette R. (Leonard) Turgeon

CHICOPEE ~ Coszette R. (Leonard) Turgeon, 87, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, April 4, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on April 30, 1931, a beloved daughter of the late Ernest J. and Rose D. (Martin) Leonard. She was raised in Chicopee, attended Chicopee schools and was a lifelong resident of Aldenville. She was employed for many years at National Blank Book in Holyoke, which later was Avery Dennison in Chicopee, where she also was a member of their Club 16. She also worked at Don’s Auto Repair in Chicopee as a customer greeter and general assistant. She spent many hours volunteering her time at Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen and Pantry in Chicopee. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Lucien J. “Shorty” Turgeon who was Called Home on July 14, 1998. They were married at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee on July 2, 1949 and were blessed with over 49 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving daughters, Renée M. Croteau and her husband, Donald, of Chicopee and Lisa C. Roy and her husband, John, of Ludlow; her cherished grandchildren, Christopher Croteau, Matthew Croteau and his partner, Stephanie Reilly, Evan, Noelle and Ella Roy and Kristy LaPlante; her two dear sisters, Carol Dryzgula of South Hadley and Evelyn Blanchard of Belchertown; her dear brother-in-law, Joseph R. Turgeon and his wife, Dottie, of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Turgeon and Leonard families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by ten loving siblings. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. There are no visiting hours at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen and Pantry, 170 Pendexter Avenue, Chicopee, MA 01013.
