Obituary

Mr. James F. Carr, a longtime resident of West Medford, passed away at the VA Medical Center in Bedford on Sunday morning, March 24, 2019. He was 79 years old.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on May 6, 1938, he was the beloved son of the late Otis and Eldine (Ridgley) Carr. Mr. Carr was a Vietnam Army veteran, entering the military from Medford on November 12, 1965 and receiving his honorable discharge from Fort Dix, New Jersey, on February 6, 1974. James was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal for his service.

In civilian life, Jimmy worked as a Welder for the Four River Ship Yard. He had also been employed by the US Postal Service. In his spare time, he enjoyed collecting coins and time pieces. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his loving siblings; Aldas R. Carr of Brockton and Iris M. and her husband James D. White of Orlando, Florida. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Saturday, March 30, 2019, from 1 to 4 PM. Interment will be held at a later date in the VA National Cemetery in Bourne. For additional information, please visit, www.magliozzifuneralhome.com.
