WAKEM, Richard Glenn, (known by most as Rick) age 81 of Roslindale, died unexpectedly surrounded by his family after complications from pancreatitis, March 23, 2019. Beloved husband of 52 years to Loretta A. (Ferrone). Loving father of Tina M. Allen of Dedham, and Richard P. Wakem of Roslindale. Grandfather of Jazmin A. and Andre M. Allen of Dedham, and Richard A. and Isabella J. Wakem of Roslindale. Brother of Jewel A. Rhoades of FL, and Paul S. Wakem of FL. Cousin of Glenn Jutras of NH. Brother-in-law of Frances A. Ferrone of Walpole. Uncle of Shavon Wakem, Mariya Carroll-Wakem, and Kenneth Wakem. Also survived by several cousins. Richard was a community activist in Roslindale, Grand Marshall of the Roslindale Day Parade, and member of the Scottish Rite, Aleppo Shriners, and Prospect Lodge. Served in the National Guard. Former Building Inspector for the Town of Hingham and City of Boston and teacher at North Bennett Street Industrial School. He loved hunting, motorcycling, snowmobiling, sailing, cruising and vacationing in Cape Cod and New Hampshire. Most of all he loved being with his family. Wake being held at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, MA Friday, March 29th visiting hours 4-8pm. Funeral services will be on Saturday, March 30th starting at 9am at the Gormley Funeral Home followed by a procession to the Funeral Service at the Lucy Stone Chapel, Forest Hills Cemetery, 95 Forest Hills Ave. Jamaica Plain, MA at 10am. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 pm with a Masonic Service at 7pm. Relatives, friends and colleagues invited.
