Cecile N. (Pilotte) Matte

CHICOPEE ~ Cecile N. (Pilotte) Matte, 75, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, March 3, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall South in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on April 27, 1943, a beloved daughter of the late Alfred D. and Elizabeth C. (Sabourin) Pilotte. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Precious Blood High School in Holyoke and was a lifelong resident of Chicopee. She had worked for almost 30 years at Insurance Innovators in West Springfield and retired as their office manager in 2006. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville where she was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality and served on their Bingo Committee. She was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished her family and was “paid in love” by all of them. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Richard J. Matte who was Called Home on September 8, 2015. They were married on April 24, 1965 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville and were blessed with over 50 years of happiness together. She leaves her three loving children, Elizabeth A. Cross and her husband, David, of Agawam, Michael A. Matte of Boston and Stefan T. Matte and his fiancée, Anita Carvalho, of Malden; her six cherished grandchildren, David Dubreuil, Sarah Tourville, Mark Cross, Cahri Taro, Danielle Lee Matte and Marissa Carvalho; her four cherished great-grandchildren, Damien, Isabella, Makenzie and Connor; her two dear brothers, Donald Pilotte and Francis Pilotte, both of Texas; her two dear sisters, Denise Fournier of Georgia and Vivian Sweeney and her husband, Donald, of Chicopee; her loving brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Paul Matte and his wife, Cynthia, of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Matte and Pilotte families. Her funeral will be held on Friday, March 15, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee. MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 14, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
