Obituary

Jean Mary Duncan, 93, recent resident of Heritage of Framingham, died on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 after a brief illness. Jean was born in Greenfield, MA on September 16, 1925, the daughter of the late Spencer C. Howes and Gwenllian A. (Tavender) Howes. She graduated in 1943 from Greenfield High School.

Jean married William C. Duncan on June 7, 1947. Together they raised six children and lived for many years in Worcester. In 1972 they moved to Gardner where Jean worked as a secretary for the Department of Social Services, retiring in 1989. Bill and Jean were members of Belmont Street Baptist Church in Worcester and Bethany Baptist Church in Gardner. Jean loved to bake, do needle work, read and play games, especially Scrabble.

Jean will be missed by her children Spencer and his wife Nancy Johnson of Hartland, Vermont, Gretchen and her husband Walter Jones of Northborough, Thomas and his wife Francine of Westminster, Rebecca and her husband Bruce Borland of Natick, Ruth and her husband James Breunig of Billerica, and Philip and his wife Wendy of Auburn. She was the loving grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of 24.

After 60 years of marriage Bill died in 2007, and her sister Gwladys Larson also predeceased her.

A memorial service for Jean will be held at The Journey Community Church in Worcester.
