Obituary

Margaret A. "Peggy" McCann, 83, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. She was the beloved wife of James E. McCann for 61 years.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Herman and Margaret (Driscoll) White. Peggy graduated from St. Xavier’s Academy. She was a fulltime caregiver, excelling at preparing Sunday dinners and feeding entire sports teams, booster clubs, music groups and packing up full meals for family outings. An accomplished sandwich-maker, she was often seen during the summer months at Lido’s preparing one across her lap for any passerby fixed to their liking.
She leaves a loving family of four sons, James, and wife Colleen, of Scituate, Daniel, and wife Sherry, of Scituate, Stephen of West Warwick, Peter of Scituate; two daughters, Julie Roy and husband, Dennis of Natick MA, and Amy McCann and husband, Sean of Southborough, MA; eight grandchildren: Timothy, Kayleigh, Megan, Mackenzie, Matthew, Kelsey, Brandon and Bridget and two great-grandchildren Ruby and Callum. She was the sister of Nancy Ozog, and her husband Edward, of Durham, NC.
She was a witty storyteller who loved regaling the crowds with her latest run ins with the backyard squirrels in an effort to protect her birdfeeders. But mostly she loved her grandchildren, caring for them and watching them grow.
Her funeral will be held Friday, March 1, 2019 at 9am from Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial, to which relatives and friends are invited will be at 10am in St. Joseph Church, Danielson Pike, Scituate. Private burial at a later date. Visitation Thursday 4-7pm.
