Jeanne M. (Morin) Nelson

SPRINGFIELD ~ Jeanne M. (Morin) Nelson, 87, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Monday, February 18, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall North in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on January 25, 1932, a beloved daughter of the late Fortuna J. and Marie Rose (Beauregard) Morin. She was raised in Holyoke and lived there for many years before moving to Springfield in 2010. She was employed for 33 years as a Medical Records Clerk for Holyoke Health Center on Maple Street in Holyoke. She was an active and faithful member of the Morning Star Community Baptist Church in South Hadley where she also served as a Trustee. She was also a member of the Obie Knox Lodge 1568 / Aster Temple 18 where she was honored in 2018 for her 40 years of service as their Financial Secretary. During her leisure time, Jeanne enjoyed working on crossword puzzles. Most of all, she was a wonderful mother and homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her loving children, Warren Nelson and his wife, Sue, of Beaver Creek, OH, Gary Nelson of Holyoke, David Nelson of Gardner, Thomas Nelson of West Springfield, John Nelson of Springfield and Lisa Starnes and her husband, Pastor Paul Starnes, of Springfield; her 14 cherished grandchildren; her 17 cherished great-grandchildren; her two cherished great-great-grandchildren; her dear brother, Richard Morin of Chicopee; her dear friend, Bob; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Nelson and Morin families. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her loving children, her infant twins, Emily and Bernard Nelson and Vicki Nelson; her loving brothers and sisters, Rene, Roger, Leo, Edward and Ferdinand Morin, Annette Miner, Vivian Goshea, Theresa Boardman, Beatrice Williams and Catherine Morin; and her former husband, Warren Nelson, Sr. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, February 25, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, February 26, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the Morning Star Community Baptist Church, 11 North Main Street, South Hadley, MA 01075, (Family and friends are invited to meet directly at the church). Her burial will follow the service at Forestdale Cemetery, 304 Cabot Street, Holyoke, MA 01040. Her family has requested that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Springfield Rescue Mission, PO Box 9045, Springfield, MA 01102-9045.
