Rita Theresa (Provost) Hudson, 91, a lifelong resident of Salem, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Masconomet Healthcare Center in Topsfield. She was the devoted wife of the late Richard O. Hudson, with whom she had shared 54 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Alphonse and Lea (Thibodeau) Provost. She was educated in the Salem School System and married Richard, the love of her life in 1948. Following her marriage, Rita dedicated her life to her family and creating a welcoming home. She was a hard working, meticulous woman who took pride in her family, home and appearance. She was a stunning and gracious woman who had many interests including, cooking, photography, golfing, bowling, fishing, dancing and singing, (especially her rendition of Happy Birthday). She was also a self taught pianist and enjoyed playing bingo with her brother Bob at the Senior Center. In her later years, Rita loved dining out with family and friends. She will be remembered for her kindness and generosity towards anyone who crossed her path. A beautiful person inside and out, she will be missed by many.
Rita is survived by her four children, Linda R. Workman and husband Douglas of Groveland, Edward R. Hudson and wife Johnetta of Methuen, David B. Hudson of Milton, NH, Susan M. Young and husband Richard of Waddell, AZ, daughter-in-law, Paula Hudson of Barnstead, NH, her twin brothers, Robert Provost of Salem and Richard Provost of Zephyr Hills, FL. She also leaves fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters, Jeannette Provost, Shirley Chouinard, Edna Cullen and Jacqueline Panneton.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 9:30 AM to be followed by her Funeral Mass in Ste. Anne Church, 290 Jefferson Ave., Salem at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Visiting Hours at the funeral home will be on Thursday, February 14th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
