Arthur W. Rother, 95, formerly of Derry, NH and Methuen, MA, passed away Tuesday January 29, 2019 at Windham Terrace Assisted Living in Windham, NH. Arthur was born April 25, 1923 in Lawrence, MA and was the son of Arthur and Viola (Reinhold) Rother. He was raised and educated in Lawrence and resided in Methuen for many years prior to relocating to Derry, where he lived for over 40 years.
Mr. Rother served in the US Navy during World War II, after which he returned to the area and pursued a career in commercial real estate. He was employed for many years as a Vice President with Data Realty of Brookline, MA. Arthur enjoyed making and flying model airplanes and was a member of the Fremont Flyer Club. He grew up on Big Island Pond, in Derry and was a former Director of the Big Island Pond Association. He also enjoyed golf, sailing and all the activities of lake life. In his retirement, Arthur and his wife wintered in Barefoot Bay, FL. He was a former member of the Calvary Bible Church in Derry.
Members of the family include a son and his wife, Ronald and Dale Rother of Duncanville, TX, a daughter and her partner, Nancy Antell and John Tonneson of Methuen, MA., five grandchildren, Joshua and Christine Rother, Paul, Jennifer and Natalie Armano and his 1st wife, Helen Rother of Derry. He was predeceased by his 2nd wife, Ursula Rother, his 3rd wife Rita Rother and a sister, Shirley Frasca.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 from 5 to 7:30 pm at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Road Londonderry, NH. A Funeral service will be celebrated 7:30pm in the funeral home concluding with committal prayers and Military Honors. Private entombment will be Friday at the Eternal Light Mausoleum, 21 Pond St., Salem, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association MA/NH Chapter, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
