Hervey E. "Herv" Constantine

CHICOPEE ~ Hervey E. “Herv” Constantine, 72, of the Willimansett Heights section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, January 23, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family and his wonderful caregivers. He was born in Holyoke on August 6, 1946, a beloved son of the late Anthony and Rose A. (Suprenant) Constantine. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and lived in Willimansett Heights his entire life. He furthered his education and received an Associate’s Degree from Quincy College in Quincy, MA. In 1966, he enlisted in the Massachusetts Army National Guard where he served his country for 40 years. He was ordered to active duty in response to the World Trade Center and Pentagon Attacks and retired in 2006 with the rank of Command Sergeant Major. He received the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Humanitarian Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Silver Hourglass. He was employed as a Master Electrician at Barnes Air National Guard Base in Westfield and had previously worked for 27 years at Anitec, a subsidiary of International Paper Company, in Holyoke. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in the Aldenville section of Chicopee. He was a past president and member of the Willimansett Heights Improvement League, a member of the Pioneer Valley Chapter 8 Camping Association and a member of the Moose Family Center 1849. He was a true outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. Above all, Herv loved spending time with his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Sandra R. “Sandy” (Kosiorek) Constantine. They were married on December 3, 1966 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville and were blessed with over 52 years of happiness together. He also leaves his four loving children, Lynda M. St. Jean and her husband, Edmond, of Chicopee, Nancy A. Embury and her husband, David, of South Hadley, Ann M. Kincaid and her husband, Harrison Kincaid III, of Chicopee and Wayne J. Constantine and his partner, Jacqueline Elfman, of South Hadley; his eight cherished grandchildren, Joseph and Lauryn St. Jean, Robert and Brianna Embury, Christopher Lindsey and his wife, Alyssa, Kyle Rudert, and Anthony and Khloe Constantine; his seven dear siblings, Alice Roy of Chicopee, John Richard Constantine and his wife, Carol, of Largo, FL, Pauline Roy and her husband, Roland, of Hebron, CT, Christina Constantine and her partner, Ronald Krzeminski, of Marlborough, Manuel Constantine and his wife, Dolores, of Hopkinton, Beatrice Rielle and her husband, Donald, of Palmetto, FL, and Theresa LaBarge and her husband, Harvey “George” LaBarge, of Chicopee; his wife Sandy’s cousin, Linda and Paul Plasse of Blandford and their family; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Constantine and Kosiorek families. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear brother, Anthony Constantine; his dear sister, Catherine Touchette and her husband, Henry “Hank” Touchette; and his dear brother-in-law, Roger Roy. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 7:45 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Committal Service with United States Army Military Honors will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
