Barbara Marion Knights, 84

Dateline: Mansfield, MA

Barbara Marion (Ludlam) Knights, age 84, of Mansfield, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Village at Willow Crossings in Mansfield following a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of sixty years to Robert A. Knights at the time of his passing in June, 2015.

Born in Brockton, MA on April 19, 1934, she grew up in Randolph and was the daughter of the late Isabelle M. Nilsson and Gordon W. Ludlam, and the step-daughter of the late Richard E. Nilsson.

Barbara was a resident of Mansfield for 57 years. She was employed at numerous Mansfield businesses throughout the years, including Sterling Manufacturing, the IGA, Sannies, The Mansfield Co-Operative Bank, and Don Currivan Insurance. She later enjoyed and took great pride in running the Infants Department at Raschel’s in Foxboro prior to her retirement.

Barbara enjoyed many fun-filled summers with her family at her lakeside cottage in Maine, as well as vacationing with Rob in Florida in the winter. Barbara was happiest when in the company of her family, baking, sewing, reading, listening to music of the ‘60’s & ‘70’s, and watching her adored Patriots! Barbara had a beautiful singing voice and belonged to numerous choirs when her children were young. She was always ready to sit and chat over a cup of cocoa or a glass of Chardonnay.

Barbara is survived by her children Mark Knights and his wife Connie of Brookline, NH, Robert Knights and his wife Beth of Halifax, MA, Susan Adler and her husband Andy of Norton, MA, Bonnie Corkum and her husband Dave of Broomfield, CO, as well as ten grandchildren (BJ, Greg, Liz, Alex, Josh, Katie, Martine, Emily, Michael & Nate) and five great grandchildren (Addy, Caleb, Rhys, Avery & Davis). Barbara was pre-deceased by her brother, Dr. Kenneth W. Ludlam of Norton, and by her and Rob's dear lifelong friends, Joanne and R. Boyd Thompson of Surry, Maine.

Services and burial will be private.

Visiting hours are omitted and those wishing may remember Barbara with a donation in her memory made to Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley St., West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
