Lucille M. "Lu" (Lambert) Champ

CHICOPEE ~ Lucille M. “Lu” (Lambert) Champ, 91, just shy of her 92nd birthday, a longtime resident of Maui Drive in the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, January 9, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Wingate at South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her nieces, Elaine and Susan. She was born at home on McKinstry Avenue in the Aldenville section of Chicopee on January 18, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late Clement and Amanda (Remillard) Lambert. She was raised in Aldenville and lived here for many years. Following her marriage, she lived in Windsor Locks, Connecticut and was employed as an Office Manager in the Shipping and Receiving Department for Choice Vend in Windsor Locks and retired in 1982. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Frank G. Champ who was Called Home on June 19, 1982. Following the passing of her husband, she returned to Chicopee where she lived on Maui Drive and worked at the former Hu Ke Lau Restaurant. She leaves her loving nieces and nephews, Elaine DeLeonardis and her husband, Robert, Susan Babski and her late husband, Zygmunt “Zig”, Sally Girouard and her late husband, Dennis, Eileen Killilea and her husband, Paul, Diane Mendola and her husband, Carl, Robert Rivet and David Rivet. She also leaves her step-daughter, Toni Cashman and her family; and her step-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her step-daughter, Patricia Lewis; and her dear brothers and sisters, Roger Lambert, Theresa Rivet Philibert, Georgette Fontaine and Joseph “Gig” Lambert. Her funeral will be held on Monday, January 14, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, January 13, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
