Alice E. (Ornellas) Pelchat, age 95, of Norton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Wingate at Norton. She was the beloved wife of Louis A. Pelchat, to whom she was wed for sixty-four years.

Born in North Easton, MA on March 12, 1923, she was a loving daughter of the late Ernesto and Emelia (Frates) Ornellas.

Alice grew up and was educated in North Easton. She had made her home in Norton or the past sixty-three years and prior to retiring had worked as an assembler at Texas Instruments in Attleboro. She was previously employed at Kilburn Glass, the Holmspray Company and for the Raytheon Corporation.

Mrs. Pelchat was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton and treasured the times spent with her adoring family. Along with her husband, she enjoyed gardening and proudly maintaining her home and yard. Known for having a green thumb, Alice shared her love of gardening by sponsoring one garden tour of her property through the Norton Horticultural Society.

Alice also was an avid knitter, had remarkable cooking and baking skills and will always be remembered for her homemade Christmas cookies which truly lit up the season.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her devoted children: Theresa M. Nicholas and her husband Paul, Jr. of Connecticut and Matthew L. Pelchat and his wife Gina of Virginia. She was the cherished grandmother of Sean Doyle, Melissa Pelchat, Taylor Nicholas and Paul Nicholas, III and the great grandmother of Carter Doyle and Jakob Stanley. She was the dear sister of Olivia Henriques of Brockton and was pre-deceased by nine siblings. She is also survived by several generations of loving nieces and nephews.

Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will begin on Tuesday, January 8th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 7th from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
