John J. “Jack” Hines, 71

John J. “Jack” Hines, age 71, of Mansfield, formerly of Foxboro and Hyde Park passed away in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his adoring family on Monday, December 31, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen M. (Broderick) Hines, to whom he was wed for forty-five years.
Born in Boston, MA on September 19, 1947, he was a loving son of the late Gerard M., Sr. and Catherine F. (Brown) Hines.
Jack grew up in Hyde Park and was a graduate of Brighton High School. He enlisted in the United States Marines and proudly served his country for four years during the Vietnam war.
A resident of Mansfield for the past thirty-five years, Mr. Hines had previously resided in Foxboro and prior to retiring had been employed as an automotive mechanic for forty-five years for General Motors.
Jack was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Foxboro where he formerly served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a member of the Marine Corps League in Easton, a member and elected officer of Detachment 115, a life member and judge advocate of the DAV Chapter 57 in Taunton and a member of the Easton VFW.
Jack was also a member and former instructor at the Charles River Dog Training Club in Waltham and was an avid stock car mechanic throughout New England. Above all, he loved spending time with his cherished family.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his devoted children: Kelly A. (Hines) Walsh and her son Jack of Foxboro and Josh D. Hines and his wife Maura and their children Maren, William, Connor and Charles of Hanover. He was the dear brother of Mary R. Alexander of Georgia, Karen A. Moran of Florida and the late Gerard M. Hines, Jr. and Francis X. Hines. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews.
His funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday, January 7th at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 58 Carpenter St., Foxboro. Burial with military honors will follow at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:45 P.M.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, January 6th from 4:00-7:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield.
Due to the limitation of flowers allowed at the National Cemetery, it is preferred that donations in his memory be made to the Charles River Dog Training Club, 219 Bear Hill Road, Waltham, MA 02451.
