SPRINGFIELD ~ Mary C. (Franco) Guynup, 89, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Friday, December 28, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family after being stricken at home. She was born in Springfield on November 2, 1929, a beloved daughter of the late Emilio and Louise (Bellotti) Franco. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from the High School of Commerce in Springfield and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was employed for 21 years as a Teacher’s Aide for the Springfield School Department and retired in 1992. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield and a longtime volunteer at Mont Marie Health Care Center in Holyoke. Most of all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who adored her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. Her family members would always say to her, “I Love You” to which she always responded, “I Love You More”. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Raymond T. Guynup who was Called Home on December 20, 2000. They were married on May 14, 1951 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 49 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving daughters, Susan L. Sepaniak and her husband, William, of Springfield and Carol M. DellaGiustina and her husband, Steven, of Tolland, MA; her four cherished grandchildren, Nick DellaGiustina and his wife, Teresa, Jason Cohen and his wife, Elissa, Jenny Whitehead and her husband, Dave, and Steven Sepaniak; her four cherished great-granddaughters who were the “Light of Her Life”, Madison and Brooke DellaGiustina, Lily Cohen and Rachael Whitehead; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Guynup and Franco families. In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her dear brother, Emilio Franco, Jr. who was Called Home on May 8, 1980. Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before the Mass. Her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Sacred Heart Church Renovation Fund, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104 or to the Sisters of Saint Joseph, 577 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
