Beatrice Betty (Melendy) Branson, 87, a longtime resident of Medford and beloved wife of the late George F. Branson, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children at the Winchester Hospital on Tuesday, December 25, 2018. She was born in Hanover, NH on July 22, 1931. She was the beloved daughter of the late Ai and Viola Pearl (McDougall) Melendy. She was preceded in death by her son beloved Leonard and her sisters Katherine Ricard, Elizabeth Melendy and her brother Raymond Melendy.
Betty was a homemaker raising 5 children and enjoyed cooking for her family. She loved to go bowling in her spare time and also volunteered as a Camp Fire Girls leader. She also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, music, dancing and watching game shows, especially Family Feud. Betty enjoyed doing word searches and puzzles.
She is survived by her loving children; Marsha A. and her husband Edward Steffen of Henniker, New Hampshire, Joan M. and her husband Marc E. Hendel of West Des Moines, Iowa, Brian W. Branson of Medford and Karen L. and her husband Joseph R. Cox of Stoneham, cherished grandchildren; Sarah, Rachel, Hannah, Elizabeth, Kayla, Derek, Dylan, Ashley, Dalton and Nathan and dear great-grandson; Frederick. She will be dearly missed by her family.
Her Funeral will be celebrated in the Grace Episcopal Church, 160 High Street, Medford on Monday, December 31, 2018, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are most welcome to attend. Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, on Sunday, December 30, 2018, from 4 to 8 PM.
