FALL RIVER – Evelyn Payne, age 100 of Fall River and previously of Tiverton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2018 at Catholic Memorial Home. She was the wife of the late Walter V. Payne and the late Joseph Botelho, and the daughter of the late Louis J. & Mary (Viveiros) Ferreira. Prior to retiring, Evelyn worked as a seamstress for various garment companies. She was a past member of the Fall River Senior Center, and enjoyed traveling, dancing, and playing bingo.
Survivors include her grandson Glenn Mello (wife Susan) of Tiverton; and several nieces & nephews. Evelyn was the mother of the late Richard J. Botelho and Patricia Jean Mello (late husband Gil) and the sister of the late Louis J. Ferreira Jr., Helen (Ferreira) Martin, & Dorothy (Ferreira) Pena.
Evelyn’s funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, Inc., 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Wednesday, Jan. 2nd with visitation from 8:30-10 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 A.M. in the SS Margaret & Mary Chapel of Catholic Memorial Home.
