CHICOPEE ~ Doris E. (Demers) Parent, 91, a longtime resident of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, December 22, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at Linda Manor in Leeds surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Westfield on May 28, 1927, a beloved daughter of the late William E. and Doris I. (Hall) Demers. She was raised in Westfield and moved to Chicopee around 1940. For 10 years, Doris was a volunteer and delivered Meals on Wheels to people in Chicopee. Most of all, she enjoyed being a loving homemaker to her family. She enjoyed baking her wonderful desserts that all her family truly enjoyed. She was a communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee where she was a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne Sodality. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Rodger C. Parent who was Called Home on January 26, 1989. They were married at the former Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 40 years of happiness together. She was also predeceased by her loving son, Roger C. Parent who was Called Home on November 6, 2017; and her dear sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Zabik. She leaves her loving children, Robert C. Parent and his wife, Noreen, of Easthampton and Sharon E. Kaufman and her husband, Richard, of Chicopee; her loving daughter-in-law, Maryann C. Parent of Port Orange, FL; her four cherished grandchildren, Christopher Parent and his wife, Amy, Jamie Parent, Jeffrey Parent and Jennifer Green and her husband, Diallo; her nine cherished great-grandchildren, Josh, Alex, Zachary and Olivia Parent, Cullen and Lucas Parent, Ava and Julia Parent and Damani Green; her three dear sisters, Virginia Baillergeon of Belchertown, Marion Lortie of Chicopee and Janet Woods of Ludlow; her dear brother, Ernest Demers and his wife, Dixie, of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Parent and Demers families. Her funeral will be held on Thursday morning, December 27, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday morning, December 27, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
