Deborah Kahn
12/6/2018

CHICOPEE ~ Deborah Kahn, 65, of Chicopee and formally of Enfield, CT, left this life on Thursday, December 6th, 2018. She fought like hell and gave it her all but sadly, cancer won.

Born May 12th, 1953, Debbie was a 1971 graduate of Enfield High School. She had a great interest in theater where she later studied in a summer program in Williamsburg, MA and worked at Coachlight Dinner Theater in East Windsor, CT meeting many famous actors and many forever friends. Debbie marched in the Enfield Sabers Drum & Bugle Corp and with The Marksman Drum & Bugle Corp. Debbie worked as a Claims Adjuster at The Hartford Insurance Company for 35 years.

Debbie was a woman who didn't like to be in the spotlight nor draw attention to herself. She lived life her way and loved Disney and Disney cruises so much that she named her two kitties Wonder and Magic after Disney cruise ships. Debbie was the best dessert maker for all get togethers and her desserts were the star of the show. All waited in anticipation and amazement at what she whipped up. Death by Chocolate, Death by White Chocolate, puddings decked with whipped cream and shaved chocolates in Ball jars, refrigerated cakes, scrumptious cookies and delicious ricotta cakes to name a few.

Debbie was also a crafty person who knitted, crocheted and tatted and crafted all her country Christmas doorway swags made of cut slivers of material tied onto twine and knotted with small red wooden balls. She also made snowman sock dolls and Christmas ornaments of stars and hearts made with applesauce and cinnamon tied in twine rope. Debbie also loved to read and had an extensive library of Nora Roberts and J. D. Robb books and many other authors. She loved the Hallmark Channel and especially loved watching Christmas movies.

Debbie leaves to mourn her mother, Frances Kahn of Somers, CT; her brother, Robert Kahn and wife, Michele Metta-Kahn; and her nieces, Gina Dewey and her husband, Patrick, and Sara Ortiz and her husband, Juan. She also leaves her great nieces, Daleah Ortiz, Isabella Dewey and Sofia Dewey; and her great nephew, David Ortiz. She also leaves her best friend, Christopher Shultz-Pitts; and her two cats, Wonder and Magic.

Debbie was predeceased by her father, Lester Kahn.

In honor of Debbie's wishes, there are no visiting hours and her funeral will be private. Debbie's favorite color was purple and to pay homage to her we ask that friends and family wear something purple on Thursday, December 13th, 2018 in her honor. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
