Rev. Dr. Rollin G. Karnehm, age 73, of Bristol, RI, Pastor of the First Baptist Church in Mansfield, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Hope Hospice & Palliative Care Center in Providence, RI

Born in Piqua, Ohio on February 22, 1945, he was a loving son of the late Marvin and Edith (Long) Karnehm.

Rollin grew up and was educated in Piqua, Ohio and was a graduate of Piqua High School. He furthered his studies, graduating from the Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary with a master’s degree of Divinity and the Andover Newton School of Theological with a doctorates degree in Counseling Psychology.

Rev. Dr. Karnehm served as the minister of the First Baptist Church in Mansfield from September 19, 2010 – October 14, 2018. He was previously employed as a Senior Consultant & Director of Psychological Assessment with Wright Management Consulting Inc., in Providence. He had also been self-employed for many years as a counselor and consultant.

Rev. Dr. Karnehm held positions on the Board of Directors for the Massachusetts Mental Health Association and the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts.

Rollin had made his home in Bristol, Rhode Island for over twenty years and formerly resided in Norwood, MA. He enjoyed sailing, golfing, motorcycles and a special love for his late dog “Baxter”.

He is survived by his devoted children: Tracey L. Lozier of Louisiana, John Karnehm of Florida and Andrew Karnehm of Rhode Island. He was the dear brother of Miriam Wilcox and her husband Howard of Washington and the late Caroline Karnehm. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 1 niece, 2 nephews and many friends.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial service in celebration of his life on Saturday, December 15th at 2:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church, 52 North Main St., Mansfield.

Visiting hours have been omitted and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care of Rhode Island, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, Rhode Island 02904-9826.
