Obituary

Loyed S. Woodland, Jr., at 85, of Bourne, formerly of Brockton, died peacefully, Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Bourne Manor. Loyed was the loving husband for 60 years of Geraldine A. (Holmes) Woodland of Bourne. He was born in Brockton, son of the late Loyed S. and Julia M. (Butler) Woodland, Sr. Loyed was a graduate of Brockton High School and served in the Army during the Korean War. In the early 1970’s he opened Woodland Construction and Pothole Medic, retiring in 2010. Loyed was a perfectionist who took great pride in the development of his self-designed pulverizing asphalt machine which he used on many of his jobs. He was a longtime member of the TY-Rods Club and was a New England Dragway Hall of Fame recipient, as the driver of his 442 Oldsmobile.

Loyed was the father of Brenda Woodland, Lori Woodland and Loyed Woodland, III and his companion Sandy, and the late Terri Woodland; grandfather of Joshua, Samantha and Brittany and brother of Dorothy Steele and the late Richard Woodland. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Graveside Services with military honors will be held Thursday, December 13, at noon in Melrose Cemetery, 88 North Pearl Street, Brockton.
