Obituary

Donald G. Scott, 90, of Derry, NH, died Sunday December 2, 2018 in Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Derry. He was born in Derry on April 19, 1928, a son of the late Arthur and Ethel (Hawley) Scott. Donald had been a resident of Derry for most of his life. Don was a 1946 graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry and later received an associate’s degree in Machine and Tool Design from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. Don was a US Army veteran and a recipient of the Army Occupation Metal while serving in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He had been employed by Polaroid as an engineer where he had several patents credited in his name. He also owned and operated Scott Machine in Derry. Don was a private pilot and flew in and out of Beaver Lake in Derry. He was a lifelong blood donor and supporter of the American Red Cross. Don and his wife Gloria were world travelers following his retirement.

He is survived by his wife Gloria C. (Butterfield) Scott of Derry; several nieces and nephews; a brother and sister-in-law. He was predeceased by his daughters, Lysa Scott in 2010 and Baby Donna Scott, and his two brothers, Arthur and Leroy Scott.

Graveside services were held on Thursday December 6, 2018 at 2:00pm at Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross, P.O. Box 37839, Boone, IA 50037-0839. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry assisted the family with arrangements.
