Nicandro "Nick" Almonte of Medford, age 80, passed away peacefully on November 28, surrounded by family. Nick loved gardening, cooking, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Beloved son of the late Amedeo and Filomena (Del Monaco) Almonte, Nick was born in Pettorano sul Gizio in the Abruzzo region of central Italy. Nick was married to his beloved late wife Dorothy, with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.

Nick was the devoted father of Anthony Almonte and his wife Maria of Burlington, Nicholas Almonte and his wife Carolyn of Bristol, RI. He was the adored and proud grandfather of Michael, Sara, Julia, Olivia and Ethan. Nick is survived by sisters Guiseppina Bonaventura of Medford, Maria Berarducci of Sulmona, Italy, and brother Alberto Almonte and wife Bruna of Monte Porzio Catone, Italy. Nick devoted himself to his family and will be dearly missed and forever remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.

Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Monday, December 3 at 10 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Clement Church, 71 Warner St., Medford, at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday, December 2, from 4 through 7 PM. Services will conclude with Entombment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden.
