Our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Vina A. Ronan, passed away on November 22, 2018 at the age of 89. A lifelong resident of Boston, Vina was the oldest child of Ida and Thomas Kelly. She grew up in a loving home during the depression era alongside her siblings Tommy, Jimmy and Gerry. Vina was a 1946 graduate of Roslindale High School. She met the love of her life, Tom Ronan, while out dancing at Moseley's in 1951. They married on February 3, 1952, and she became the devoted mother of eight children. Vina was a wonderful homemaker and avid gardener. She had the unique ability to make everyone she met feel special.
Vina is survived by her children Linda Rodrigues and her husband, Ron; Pat Mahan and her husband, George Aymie; Sue Murtagh and her husband, Gary; Tom Ronan and his wife, Marie; Caroline McGovern and her husband, Steve; Ed Ronan and his wife, Sue; Michael Ronan and his wife, Dawn; Diane Williams and her husband, Ian. She was the cherished grandmother of Nicole, Julie, David, Kevin, Jessica, Mack, Danny, Kelly, Kelleigh, Courtney, Katie, Callie, Brian, Taegan, Jack, and Cara.
Family and friends will celebrate and remember Vina’s life by gathering for visiting hours at the Robert J. Lawler and Crosby Funeral Home, 1803 Centre St., West Roxbury, on Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 3:00 to 8:00pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Holy Name Church, West Roxbury, on Wednesday, Nov. 28, at 10:00am. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
