WEST HATFIELD ~ Donald M. "Dean" Shaw, 71, of West Hatfield, was Called Safely Home on Friday, November 16, 2018. He passed into Eternal Life at Linda Manor in Leeds surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Northampton on June 22, 1947, the beloved son of the late Donald J. and Josephine A. (Postaliewicz) Shaw. He was raised in Northampton, graduated from Saint Michael's High School in Northampton and lived in the city for many years before moving to West Hatfield in 2003. He was employed in the Maintenance Department at Amherst College. His family had owned and operated Shaw's Motel in Northampton and, after the passing of his parents, Dean became the owner and operator for several years. Dean loved to tinker and was always working on a project. He enjoyed gambling and loved visiting the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casinos. He would periodically take a trip to the Las Vegas casinos to try his luck. He enjoyed going to Cape Cod and especially loved walking along the shoreline. He leaves his loving companion of 45 years, Faith M. Levesque and her son, Mark S. Levesque, both of Springfield; his dear sister, Barbara Brazzell of Dickson, TN; his dear niece, Shawn Fowler and her husband, Trey, of Burns, TN; his dear nephew, Terry D. Brazzell of Hermitage, TN; his two great-nieces, Andrea Rayburn and her husband, Shane, of Dickson, TN and Shelby Gregory of Auburn, AL; his three great-nephews, Dalton Fowler and Dylan Fowler, both of Burns, TN and David Randolph of Dickson, TN; and his five great-great nieces and nephews. His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.). His Burial will follow the Funeral Service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA 01129. His family and friends are welcome to call at the funeral home on Sunday, November 25, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children, Springfield Unit, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104.
