NATICK: Joseph H. Shield, 82, died peacefully in Marlboro Hills Healthcare Center after a period of declining health.
Joseph was born on August 30, 1936 to the (late) Henry J. and Mary (Snow) Shield in Natick. Joe graduated Natick High School in 1955 and joined the United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served for 6 years during the Vietnam War.
Joseph is survived by his 3 children: Joseph Shield, Michael Shield, and Nanci Anderson; his sister Elizabeth Shield;2 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; his high school sweetheart, with whom he has spent the last 18 years after reconnecting later in their lives, Jean Lynch; Jean’s children: Richard and Diana Lynch and Jean’s 2 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held for Joseph in the Chapel of John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street, Natick, MA 01760 on Saturday, November 24th at 10:00 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery will follow with military honors.
