Obituary

Betty A. Pantalion (nee Barslou)
Nov 7, 1936 – Nov 5, 2018
Beloved Mom, Granny, Sister, Auntie, and Friend, is finally in her heaven - riding shotgun to my dad in their 57 Pontiac on the road trip of a lifetime. Mom passed away peacefully on Monday, November 5th, surrounded by family. Her battle with this thief of a disease that robs one of their mental capacity and ability to do the things once loved so much - in her case cooking, gardening, entertaining, traveling or planning her next Halloween costume - has ended. She was born November 7th, 1936 in Boy River, Minnesota. Not long after graduation she set off to serve her country at Lackland Airforce Base, San Antonio, TX. Shortly into her service she met the man of her dreams and they wed at the Base Chapel. After their service in 1961, they relocated to St. Paul, MN, where they began their next chapters and eventually raised 4 children, loved 8 grandchildren, and enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Mom spent most of her career, and retired from, Burlington Northern Railroad. Thank you, Mom for teaching right from wrong, for making us foodies before it was cool, for all the sacrifices you made, and your dedication to your husband and family. You will be missed more than you know but we are so glad that you suffer no more. A heartfelt thank you to the staff of Marian Center for the loving care you gave her - your admiration of her was obvious and gave all of us comfort. Betty is survived by children Tom Pantalion (Debbie), Joe Pantalion, Lisa Welch (Dennis), Sheila Pantalion (Jim Simpson) and eight grandchildren; Daniel "Danny" Pantalion (Sara), Madeline "Maddy" Pantalion, Joseph "Joey" Pantalion, Savanna Welch, Maisie Simpson, Audrey Simpson, Morgan Welch and Maria Welch. She is also survived by sisters Leona Wake and Carole Russell, brother Jack Barslou (Ann) and many nephews and nieces. Memorial service Saturday (11/17) 1 PM at Cerenity Marian of St. Paul, 200 Earl St. Visitation will precede service 12-1 PM. Interment will be at Fort Snelling. In lieu of flowers, mom would want you to instead donate to a cause close to your heart.
