CHICOPEE – Arthur J. Dumont, 89, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, passed into Eternal Life on Friday, November 2, 2018. He was born in Saint Margaret Quebec, Canada, a beloved son of the late Ovide and Maria (Deblois). He was raised in Canada and settled in Aldenville in 1957. He was employed as a machinist at the former J & W Jolly Company in Holyoke and retired in 1994. During his leisure time, Art was always ready for a good game of cards with his family and his many friends. He also enjoyed fishing and watching the Montreal Canadiens. He was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and best friend of 59 years, Marcelle R. (Picard) Dumont who was Called Home on February 3, 2015. He leaves his loving and devoted children, Serge and his wife, Mary of Chicopee, Lynda and her husband, Eamonn Byrne of Dallas, TX and Cynthia and her husband, Keith Bixby of Easthampton, MA; his seven cherished grandchildren, Shawn and Ryan, Lilirose, Magnolia and Ella, and Thomas and Meghan. In addition, Arthur leaves his loving brother, sisters, in laws, nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends in Canada and in the U.S. who will forever miss him. His funeral will be held on Saturday morning, November 24, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family has requested that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
