John “Jack” Spignesi of Andover passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Massachusetts General Hospital after a brave battle with cancer. Jack is survived by his wife of 49 years, Mary L. (O’Neill) Spignesi. He is also survived by his three children and their spouses, Andrea and her husband Jeff Wynn of Bradford, Christine Adams and her husband Jonathan of Pepperell and John Spignesi, Jr. and his wife Maura of Marshfield. Jack is also survived by his brother Dr. Thomas Spignesi and his wife Kerry of West Hartford, CT.
Jack was the proud Papa of 8 grandchildren, Ryan, Erin and Sean Wynn, Joshua, Nathan and Madison Adams and Jack and Faith Spignesi. He was predeceased by his grandson Jude Spignesi. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was born to the late James and Catherine Spignesi in New Haven, CT. He was predeceased by his brothers William and James Spignesi, Jr. as well as his Aunt Mae Flanagan.
Jack was a graduate of Northeastern University with a degree in Civil Engineering and also received a law degree from Boston College Law School. He enjoyed painting, gardening, jogging and spending time with his grandchildren.
Our family wishes to thank the Doctors, Nurses and staff at Mass General Hospital Cancer Center for their wonderful dedication and care of Jack. They became like our extended family.
At Jack’s request, the funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers a donation may be made in Jack’s name to the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, Fruit Street, Boston, MA.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Burke Magliozzi Funeral Home.
