Salvatore F. "Sal" Casa

CHICOPEE ~ Salvatore F. “Sal” Casa, 88, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, November 1, 2018. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born on October 25, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York, a beloved son of the late Luigi and Assunta (Caruana) Casa. He was raised in Brooklyn and had graduated from Manhattan, NY schools. He served his country in the United States Army during peacetimes and attained the rank of Private First Class. He reenlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the Air Force after over 21 years of service on July 1, 1970 with the rank of Master Sergeant and received numerous awards and citations including the Air Force Commendation Medal. Sal’s military career took him and his family all over the country and they finally settled in Chicopee in 1966. He enjoyed golfing and had worked as a starter and ranger at Westover Golf Course in Chicopee and The Ranch Golf Course in Southwick. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Frances L. “Fran” (Martino) Casa. They were married on July 4, 1954 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Brooklyn, NY and were blessed with over 64 years of happiness together. He also leaves his four loving children, Louis R. Casa and his wife, Jan, of South Hadley, Toni J. Colson and her husband, Edwin “Gus” Colson, of Ludlow, and Gail C. Casa and her companion, Robert Potvin, and Patricia A. Presnal and her husband, Ted, all of Chicopee; his nine cherished grandchildren, Melissa Carriveau and her husband, Tim, Diane Moore and her husband, Matt, Lynette Mailhott and her husband, Mike, Michelle Roberts and her husband, Jeff, Christopher Guyette and his wife, Denise Darcy, Tracy Guyette and her companion, Kevin Palaia, Craig Presnal and his wife, Tess, Matthew Presnal and Morgan Presnal; his nine cherished great-grandchildren, Mason, Taryn, Nathan, Layton, Camden, Jacob, Vinny, Isabella and Nicholas; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Casa and Martino families. He will also be deeply missed by his canine companion, Bella. In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear brother, Thomas Casa and his wife, Anna. Family and friends are invited to attend a Committal Service with United States Air Force Military Honors on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. At Salvatore’s request, there are no visiting hours. His funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. In lieu of flowers, his family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Foundation for TJO Animals, 66 Industry Avenue, Suite 3, Springfield, MA 01104.
