Obituary

Worcester:  Alexander D. Connolly Sr., 55, passed away on Tuesday, October 9th, 2018 at UMass Medical Center. He leaves behind his faithful father John P. Connolly of Worcester, two devoted sons, Alexander D. Connolly Jr. of Buzzards Bay, John P. Connolly and his wife Gina of Worcester, and his loving daughter Sara M. Diaz of Worcester. His loyal brothers Michael D. Connolly and his wife Elizabeth of Shrewsbury, James F. Connolly, Stephen F. Connolly and his wife Tia of Las Vegas. Two grandsons Noah Alexander, and Tyson Alexander, who he loved dearly. Four aunts- Shirley Driscoll of TX, Frances O'Brien of Burlington, MA Katherine Mulligan of Canada, and Margaret Shea of Virginia Beach, VA; ten nieces and nephews he adored, Melissa, Pamela, Mary, Michael, James, Robert, Colin, Brandon, Kerry, and Kelly; and many great nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his beautiful mother Roberta N. (Duncan) Connolly, his three brothers Patrick, Colin, and John; and two aunts - Jeannette Weber and Billie Morris. 
Alex was born in Winchester, MA, son of John P. Connolly, and of the late Roberta N. (Duncan) Connolly.  He graduated from Doherty Memorial High School in 1981 and worked as a painter and blue collar tradesman for most of his life. He was always a devoted father, and grandfather; his children and grandchildren were always the most important part of his life. He mostly enjoyed watching his grandson Noah play baseball, and spending time with his grandson Tyson. Alex adored his closest friends and family, rooted for New England sports, and loved his mother unconditionally.
A calling hour will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester.  A funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church of Our Lady of Providence Parish 236 Lincoln St. Worcester. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Worcester. In lieu of flowers, donations in Alexander's memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
