Hayes, Elizabeth L. "Betti" (Smith), age 68, of Canton passed away unexpectedly at home October 4th due to complications from Diabetes. Born in Boston, she graduated from Stoughton High School Class of 1968. She worked for Quincy College for many years as the Secretary to the Dean and later as a Secretary for the Mass Hospital School in Canton before retiring. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Post #24 in Canton, and the Norwood VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post #2452. She loved quilting and knitting and was a member of the Quilters Guild in Walpole. Beloved wife of William S. Mother of Michael E. Hayes and his wife Toni of Montana and Shannon E. Hayes and her boyfriend John D. Murphy of Norwood. Sister of Allen Smith and his wife Margaret of Halifax, Edward Smith and his wife Debbie of Taunton and the late Richard Smith. Grandmother of Brendan and Katie Hayes and Eric Hamlin. Service are private for the family and burial will be at the VA National Cemetery, Bourne.
