Obituary

Worcester: Christine C. (Paquin) Haig, 89, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 30, 2018 in The Jewish Healthcare Center. She leaves sons John V. Haig with whom she lived, Sampson Asumadu of Shrewsbury, Mike Goodheart of Many, LA, a sister Nora Eldridge of Florida, a brother Thom Gifford of Cape Cod, and many close family and friends. She was predeceased by a son David D. Haig III and a brother Daniel Butts.

Christine was born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Elsie Grundberg and Alfred B. Poirier and was adopted by the late Valtheas Paquin and Florence (Lloyd/Carter) Paquin. She attended Sacred Hearts Academy until her senior year and then graduated from New Bedford High School and went on to receive her Bachelors Degree from Boston University and her Master's Degree from Boston College. She worked as a medical secretary for the Chief of Emergency Medicine at Hahnemann, Memorial and UMASS Medical Center. She also worked as a legal secretary for several local law firms including Spillaine and Spillaine and Paul Novack, retiring at age 81. Nothing brought her more joy than to bake for family and friends, especially her Swedish cardamom bread. She was a member of Vasa's Nordic Lodge. Other interests included classical music, travel, and playing the piano. She will be remembered for her talent, her intellect, and her warm and loving heart.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. John's Church 44 Temple St. Worcester, MA on Saturday November 3, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. There are no calling hours. Donations in Christine's name may be made to St. John's Food For the Poor Program 44 Temple St. Worcester, MA 01604 or to Boston University Gifts and Records, 595 Commonwealth Ave, Suite 700, Boston, MA 02215. Please include a note that indicates the donation is in memory of Christine Haig for the Professor John Oddy Scholarship Fund, which she helped to found with fellow classmates.
