Waters, Nancy, died September 25, 2018, 65, at home in West Roxbury after a four year battle with ovarian cancer. Nancy combined her passions for history, architecture, and the decorative arts as curator at Staten Island Historical Society/Richmondtown Restoration, NYC; Edison National Historic Site, NJ; and the National Park Service’s Northeast Museum Services Center in Boston. After retiring from paid employment, Nancy redirected her energies to volunteer work with the First Church in Jamaica Plain, Unitarian Universalist and Boston Latin School’s Freight Farm and Youth Climate Action Network (YouthCAN).

Survivors include Duncan Hay (spouse), Ian Hay (son - currently a graduate student at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia), Dennis Waters (brother, Tucson, AZ), and lifelong friend and caregiver Holly Hansen (Staten Island, NY).

Nancy was born in Tucson. Although she moved to the east coast for graduate school in her mid 20s and lived in Boston for nearly a quarter century, she always considered herself a child of the desert. Her ashes will be scattered in the Arizona mountains she loved.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will start 10am, Saturday, October 13 at First Church, 6 Eliot St., Jamaica Plain. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Boston Latin School, 78 Avenue Louis Pasteur, Boston, MA 02115, noting BLS YouthCAN or BLS Freight Farm in memory of Nancy Waters on the memo line. www.lawlerfuneralhome.com
