Obituary

Revere, Mass- Edward James Marcello, 77, died suddenly on Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Ed was born in Nashua, New Hampshire, on August 6, 1941 and was the son of the late William A. and Edith (Enright) Marcello.

Ed lived for his wife Carol, his 6 kids, 19 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Ed was an entrepreneur who did about everything a man could want to do in a lifetime. He played in the Little League Wold Series for Portsmouth, New Hampshire, signed to a minor league contract by the Los Angles Dodgers, graduated with a degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern and Political Science and Economics from the University of Southern Maine, was a police officer in Haverhill, Massachusetts, trained thoroughbred and harness horses, worked on Presidential campaigns, ran for office in two states, produced 3 half hour TV shows, broadcast the entire 1984 State Champion Portland Bull Dogs football season, ran housing for the West End in Providence, Rhode Island, coached college and CYO basketball and was one of the foremost experts in thoroughbred breeding and handicapping.

Ed is survived by his wife who he adored more than life itself for 54 years, Carol, his children and their families; Michael and Laurie of Scarborough, Maine, William and Rhonda of Kingsport, Tennessee, his deceased son Matthew, Jennifer and Andy Cook of Coventry, Rhode Island, Gina and Keith Johnson of York, Maine, and Anthony Marcello of Boston, Massachusetts.

In lieu of flowers, Ed would be so proud if you donated to the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund, P.O. Box 803, Elmhurst, IL 60126. His Funeral Mass will be held at St. Christopher's Church, 4 Barrell Lane, York, Maine, at 11 AM on Wednesday, September 19, 2018, followed by internment at Calvary Cemetery in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
