Boylston: Richard A. Chaplis, 73, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center. He leaves 2 brothers- Russell Chaplis of Rutland and Robert Chaplis of Boylston; a nephew Randy A. Chaplis, nieces Wendy E. Chaplis, Lisa DiMicili, Wendy Curtis, and Major Cindy Callisto; and cousins- Dot Mongeon , Donna Cove, Ellen Carpenter, Philip Backholm, Judy Brousseau and her daughters Elissa and Lori.
Richard was born in Worcester son of the late Albert and Ingeborg (Backholm) Chaplis. He graduated from Worcester Boy's Trade High School and Worcester Jr. College. He proudly served his country in the US Army Reserves for 6 years. He worked as a Purchasing Agent at the former Riley Stoker Company in Worcester. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Juniper Hill Golf Club for many years. He also enjoyed auto racing and was an avid football fan.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. in Nordgren Funeral Home 300 Lincoln St. Worcester. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Boylston.
