Mrs. Barbara J. McCarthy, a lifelong resident of Medford and beloved wife of the late John O. McCarthy, passed away at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston on Saturday, September 8, 2018. She was 76 years old.
Barbara was born in Reading, Massachusetts, on December 17, 1941. She had been employed as a Nurses Aid for many years. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her loving children; Mark O. and his wife Michele M. McCarthy of Medford and Kelly A. and her husband Christopher S. Plaisted of Northfield, New Hampshire, grandchildren; Ashley, Ryan, Cassandra, Olivia, Kim, Alyssa and Justin, great-grandchildren; Ryan, Pierce and Kyah and several nieces and nephews. She was also the dear sister-in-law of Eugene and his wife Margaret McCarthy of Jonesboro, Georgia and the late Richard and Marylou Blake.
Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Friday, September 14, 2018, from 4 to 7 PM. Interment will be privately held. For additional information, please visit, www.magliozzifuneralhome.com.
