Gaetane L. (Croteau) Paul

SPRINGFIELD ~ Gaetane L. “Gae” (Croteau) Paul, 87, a longtime resident of Springfield, died peacefully on Tuesday, September 4, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at the Mount Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Manchester, New Hampshire. She was born in Berlin, New Hampshire on August 17, 1931, a beloved daughter of the late Frank H. and Albina A. (Morin) Croteau. She was raised in Manchester, graduated from Manchester West High School and from Notre Dame de Lourdes Hospital School of Nursing. She married Dr. Richard V. Paul on May 30, 1953 at the former Saint Joseph Church in Springfield and lived in Boston while he attended medical school. They later settled in Longmeadow where she was employed for over 30 years at the Jewish Nursing Home. She later lived in Agawam before returning to Springfield. Recently, she moved back to Manchester, New Hampshire to be closer to her family. She was a communicant of the former Saint Joseph Church in Springfield. Following the closing of her parish, she became an active communicant of The Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel in Springfield. Most of all, she was a devoted, loving mother to her four boys, a single parent after losing her beloved husband of 16 years in 1969. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her son, Joseph J. Paul, her brother, Gabriel H. Croteau and two sisters, Fernande Y. Vadnais and Yolande S. Croteau. She leaves her three devoted sons, Dr. Richard V. Paul, Jr. and his wife, Sara, of Hickory, NC, Christopher R. Paul, Esq. and his wife, Maggie, of Amherst, NH, and Martin H. Paul of Morgan Hill, CA; seven grandchildren, Richard V. Paul, III, Travis Paul, Katherine Paul and her fiancé, Daniel Cokely, Daniel Paul and his wife, Kristina, Amanda Paul and her fiancé, Aditya Tammewar, Martin Paul, Jr. and Amy Paul; her cherished great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Rose Paul; sister, Rejane A. Berube of Switzerland, and many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Paul and Croteau families. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, September 11, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in The Cathedral of Saint Michael the Archangel, 254 State Street, Springfield, MA 01103. Her burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109.
