CHICOPEE ~ Kathleen Ann (Driscoll) “Kathy” Mrzyglod-Charbonneau, 74, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, August 24, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at home after a brief illness surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on September 23, 1943, a beloved daughter of the late Edward and Beatrice (Reece) Driscoll. She was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Holyoke and moved to Chicopee in 1966. She furthered her education and graduated from the Kay Harvey Beauty School in West Springfield. She also attended Our Lady of the Elms College in Chicopee. She was employed at the former Monson Developmental Center in Palmer where she cared for the disabled. Previously, she was employed as a local hairdresser and also worked as a bus monitor and van driver for the Holyoke Street Railway Company. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Church in Chicopee where she also volunteered and delivered weekend meals. During her leisure time, she enjoyed square dancing, traveling to the Caribbean on numerous cruises and camping at Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison, Connecticut. She also loved reading, cooking and baking the best meringue cookies for her grandchildren. Most of all, she was a wonderful homemaker to her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Edward C. “Eddie” Charbonneau. They were married on August 19, 2018 and would have celebrated their marriage on a Honeymoon Cruise in April of 2019. She also leaves her three loving children, Judith A. “Judy” Pride and her husband, Robert, of Belchertown, Debra A. “Debbie” Hannum–Auman and her husband, James Auman, of Chicopee and John S. Mrzyglod and his wife, Sue, of Chicopee; her five cherished grandchildren, Kelsey Fleurent and her fiancé, Morgan LaValle, Alyssa Fleurent and her companion, Josh Ruggiero Sampson, David Hannum, Zackary Auman and Steven Mrzyglod; her dear brother, Michael A. Driscoll of Chicopee; her dear sister, Mary M. DuMoulin and her husband, Roland, of Buffalo, NY; and her dear nephew and her many dear nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Mrzyglod, Charbonneau and Driscoll families. Her Funeral will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre- Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 11:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 3 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 30, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
