SPRINGFIELD – Helen (Trikas) Papayianakis, 96, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, August 7, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Stow, Massachusetts on October 18, 1921, the beloved daughter of the late Demetrios and Persephone (Georgakakes) Trikas. She graduated from Wilford Academy in Boston and had moved to Springfield in the early 1950’s where she lived the remainder of her life. She was employed as a seamstress for many years and had worked at the former Trencher Coat Company and the Asinof Manufacturing Company. She was a communicant of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield. Above all, Helen loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stephanos Papayianakis; and her dear brother and sister-in-law, John J. Trikas and his wife, Christina (Morris) Trikas. She leaves her dear sister-in-law, Helen Papayianakis of Greece; and her many dear nephews and nieces including her two cherished nephews and her cherished niece, William Trikas, James Trikas and Joanne Trikas, all of Flushing, NY. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, (Please meet directly at the Cathedral), 2320 Main Street, Springfield, MA 01107. Her Burial will follow the Funeral Service at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends on Friday, August 10, 2018 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Pierre - Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
