Jane E. (Namnoum) Thomas

SPRINGFIELD – Jane E. (Namnoum) Thomas, 84, of the Glenwood section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at Saint Luke Hospital in New Bedford, Massachusetts surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Hartford, Connecticut on December 14, 1933, a beloved daughter of the late Joseph P. and Elizabeth C. Namnoum. She was raised in Hartford, graduated from Mount Saint Joseph Academy in West Hartford and upon her marriage in1956, moved to Springfield where she resided for the remainder of her life. She was employed as a mortgage specialist at the former Richard S. Thomas Real Estate in West Springfield and later worked for the City of Springfield Parks and Recreation Department at the Cyr Arena in Springfield. Most of all, she was a devoted homemaker to her family and showered them with her love, affection and food which was returned to her a thousand fold. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a communicant of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Springfield where she was a member of the Saint Anthony Women’s Guild and the former Mount Lebanon Girl’s Club. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Norman E. Thomas who was Called Home on December 11, 2014. They were married on October 6, 1956 at Saint Lawrence O’Toole Church in Hartford, Connecticut and were blessed with over 58 years of happiness together. She leaves her five devoted children, Norman A. Thomas of West Springfield, Dr. Lesa A. Thomas and her husband, Dr. Jose S. Diaz, of Cabo Rojo, PR, Cathie T. Berman of Springfield, David A. Thomas and his wife, Maria “Lee” Thomas, of Dartmouth, MA and Mary Ann Thomas of Springfield; her eight cherished grandchildren whom she adored, Joseph Thomas and his wife, Nicole, Kyle Thomas, Alexander Diaz, Elizabeth Diaz, Tarra Devine and her husband, Dwain, Justin Thomas and his wife, Kelly, Maeghan Sousa and her husband, Sergio, and Zakary Thomas; her three cherished great-grandchildren, Emily Devine, Jackson Devine and Alexandra Sousa; her loving brother, Joseph P. Namnoum of Palm City, FL; her dear brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Jeresaty of West Hartford, CT; her three dear sisters-in-law, Gladys Thomas of Morganton, GA, Barbara A. (Ghiz) Thomas of West Springfield and Joyce Thomas Aruri of Dartmouth, MA; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended members of the Thomas and Namnoum families. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her cherished grandson, Ryan A. Thomas; her loving son-in-law, George L. Berman; her two dear brothers, Peter J. Namnoum and Kenneth P. Namnoum; her dear sister, Catherine A. Jeresaty; her three dear brothers-in-law, Peter J. Thomas, Dr. Naseer Aruri and Richard S. Thomas who was Called Home on June 15, 2018. Her Funeral will be held on Monday morning, July 23, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church, 375 Island Pond Road, Springfield, MA 01118. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 22, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Her family requests that memorial donations be made in her memory to the Richard S.
