João M. Benevides, age 93, of Fall River, passed away on Friday June 22, 2018. Born in Capelas, São Miguel, Açores he was the son of the late José Benevides and Maria da Trindade Raposa de Melo and husband of Maria dos Anjos (Moniz) Benevides. João was a machine operator for Tillotson Pearson Boat Manufacturing and an avid Benfica fan.
In addition to his wife he is survived by his son; David Benevides (wife Nelia), grandchildren; Angelina, Jonathan, and Joseph Benevides, and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Manuel, José, Antonio, Maria, Guilhermina Benevides, and Carolina Dias.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on Monday here at 9 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial St. Joseph’s Church at 10 A.M. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Calling hours on Sunday from 4-8 P.M.
