CHICOPEE ~ Clara M. (Guerin) Martial, 97, of the Falls View Apartments in the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Friday, June 15, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Wotton, Province of Quebec, Canada on April 9, 1921, a beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Florida (Leroux) Guerin. She moved to Chicopee with her family at a young age and attended the former Saint George Elementary School in Chicopee Falls and had lived in Chicopee for most of her life. She was a communicant of the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls and was a member of Les Dames de Sainte Anne of the Church. She currently was a communicant of Mary, Mother of Hope Church in Springfield. Active in Chicopee, she often volunteered at Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen and the Assumption Church bingo. Above all, Clara was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother who showered her family with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, John P. Martial, Sr. who was Called Home on February 10, 1980. They were married on September 3, 1938 at the former Saint George Church in Chicopee Falls and were blessed with over 41 years of happiness together. She leaves her eight loving children, Normand L. Martial of Belchertown, Richard P. Martial and his wife, Betty, of Wilbraham, Lorraine P. Currier and her husband, Edward, of Feeding Hills, John P. Martial, Jr. of Bakersfield, CA, Anita C. Beauchesne of Chicopee, and Evelyn L. Martial, Leonard T. Martial and his wife, Bonnie, and George E. Martial and his wife, Pam, all of Belchertown; her cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her dear sister, Jeanne Talbot and her husband, Richard, of South Hadley; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Martial and Guerin families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her four dear brothers, Oscar, Joseph, Emile and Paul Guerin; and her dear sister, Pauline Soucie. Her Funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, June 19, 2018 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Mary, Mother of Hope Church, 840 Page Boulevard, East Springfield, MA 01104. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Patrick Cemetery, 168 Fuller Road, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, June 19, 2018 from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located at the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
