SAVAGE, Thomas “Tom” of Chestnut Hill died peacefully on June 10, 2018 at the age of 79. Tom is survived by his wife Janet of Chestnut Hill; daughter Joan Mitrou (David) of Stow, MA; grandchildren Ryan and Lia Mitrou; sister Mary Lucas (Robert) of Chestnut Hill; and sister Jean MacNabb (Richard) of Canton, formerly of Dedham. He also leaves loving nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Mary and Frank Savage. A West Roxbury native, Tom graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Brookline, and subsequently completed computer coursework. Tom was a self-made man and had a successful 42 year career at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, where he managed the computer room. Tom enjoyed riding his bike to work, running, hiking, watching Boston sports, and doing crossword puzzles. He was a dedicated and involved father, never missing a sporting event or activity. He enjoyed family vacations to the Cape and Bar Harbor. He could often be found at the Brookline Reservoir drinking a Dunkin’ Donuts coffee while timing the passing runners. After his retirement, Tom enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and at the West Roxbury YMCA, where he made many friends. Tom will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, generosity, loyalty, independence, humor, and faith. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street, WEST ROXBURY on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 10:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Theresa of Avila Church at 11:30 AM.
