SPRINGFIELD – Mary V. Maroon, 102, a longtime resident of Springfield Street in Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, June 6, 2018. She passed into Eternal Life at Chicopee Gardens in Chicopee surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Springfield on December 31, 1915, a beloved daughter of the late Budway and Delia (Peters) Maroon. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from the High School of Commerce and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. She furthered her education and graduated from the former Bennett Secretarial School in Springfield. She was employed for 50 years and retired as the Executive Secretary for the President and CEO of General Instrument Corporation, a division of the former F.W. Sickles Company, in Chicopee. She was a member of the Agawam Women's Club and was a daily communicant at Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. She was a longtime faithful communicant of Saint Anthony Maronite Catholic Church in Springfield. She leaves her loving nephews and nieces including her two nieces, MaryAnn Busha and her husband, Richard, of Springfield and Elizabeth Wiseman and her husband, Phillip “Red”, of Texas; her nephew, Joseph Maroon of Provincetown, MA; and her many cherished grandnephews and grandnieces. Besides her beloved parents, she was also predeceased by her two loving brothers, John J. Maroon and “Simon” Jack Paul Maroon; her two loving sisters, Nellie C. Maroon Murphy and Evelyn Maroon Shergold; and several cherished nephews and nieces. Her funeral and burial will be private for her family.
